10 Word Contest Update: We got Prizes!

Hey there everyone!

Last Friday I sent some email feelers to three gaming companies to try to get some more prizes for the contest (as things were I had 1 Booster box of the Dungeons of Dread D&D mini game or a 15$ Gift Certificate for DriveThruRPG.com).

Last night, Ed Healy of Kobold Quarterly answered and offered 3 PDF copies of the latest issue of this OGL gaming magazine.

Yay!  Thanks to Ed and Wolfgang Baur for their support and the cool prize.

I’m still hoping to secure more prizes in the next few days but I already have enough to announce that I’m going to go with three categories:

  • Best Adventure Concept (i.e. Oh man I want to play that!)
  • Funniest Entry (There are quite a few knee slappers so far)
  • Best Pop/Geek culture reference (You know who you are!)

The entries have been awesome enough and numerous enough to warrant such a split.

So far, unless I get new prize sponsorships (and I have at least one other lined up), we’d give our the Minis/Gift Certificate and a PDF of KQ to the Best Adventure Hook.  The other 2 categories would get a copy of KQ each.

The Contest is still open until tomorrow at noon!  Let’s have a final stretch!

As usual, if you know someone in the ‘biz’ be it big or small that would like to offer something (for this contest or later ones), have them contact me at chattydm@chattydm.net.

Have a nice day!

Cool cool…I’m fairly certain I’ve got one of those categories in the bag, on account of about half of my entries being focused on it…pretty much all would fall into the second category…I doubt I’ll get the big prize, though…

‘Course with my luck, all those submissions won’t get me more than the pride of being one of the larger contributers to this contest…ah, well…fun idea, no matter…this certainly occupied my boardum…

I can’t comment on your entries yet Mike, but I really appreciate your enthusiasm about the contest!

Since you have so many, have you considered recognizing/naming the best (3?) runnerups in each category? Not for prizes, but just for bragging rights. And also along the same lines, maybe a best in category - fantasy, sci-fi, superhero, etc. - again without prize, just for bragging rights.

Ugh. Don’t make even more work for the judges. They already have to go through that list 3 times.

Runners up, maybe. More categories? Ouch!

Here’s one last, post-contest submission, just for fun:

You’re too late to save the world. Survive…the Judgement!

@Ostar: As Graham says, I forsee enough work as it is for a trio of unpaid judges. :)

I may open up a People’s choice award if I can get my hands on one last prize… no promises.
