Story Contest results

I’m slowly catching up on things.

A few weeks ago, I launched a contest to get people to submit Characterization tips to help me and my group get better tools to create better integrated adventuring parties.

Well I had about 40 tips from 20 people. Quite a nice turnout given that characterization is not the easiest thing to do for the average roleplayer.

I’m pleased to announce that Tommi (of Cogito, Ergo Ludo) is our contest winner!

Since Tommi lives in Finland, instead of sending the Planescape box, I offer a 15$ gift Certificate at DrivethruRPG.com. (If for whatever reason you don’t really care about this Tommi, I can also write an article on a subject of your choice… let me know).

I also brought together all tips into a single PDF file that I’m offering for free here.

Share the file, post it on forums, etc.  Just please don’t modify it.

Tell people that Chatty and his minions are happy to share it.

I have a few more contest ideas and I’m waiting for a Prize Pack from Paizo to serve as the next prize.

What about the Planescape box you ask? Well, unless Tommi really wants it (and we come to an arrangement for shipment), I was thinking of selling it on Ebay and using the proceeds to pay for more Swag for future contests.

I’m open to suggestions.

Ok folks, from now on, I want to be called MISTER Consonant Dude. I’m a published author, after all! :p

    Congrats to Tommi!

    How about “Monsieur Consonnes Chose”?

    :)

All right, I’m offline for the whole day… be nice everyone… Don’t make me take my Cyborg Ogre Ninja out to babysit you!

    Cheers.

I actually won something. This is almost unique. (Thanks, CD.)

The gift certificate is, well, preferable to physical material relating to Planescape. Phil, if you need any information, send an email or poke me via Gtalk.

Bartoneus; I believe a die was responsible for this choice. Reference: http://chattydm.net/2008/05/24/story-building-tips-a-contest/#comment-11087

Bartoneus, I believe the winner was to be selected randomly, through a drawing.

That being said, there were quite a few entries that I liked. I’m not saying it to sound nice either. There’’s much goodness in the .pdf document.

Tommi had 4 suggestions himself and they were on par with his blog: great stuff.

As for the funniest entry: None made me laugh but I think Patriach917’s “hot seat” tip has great potential to provide some humor in a session.

The Hot Seat Question idea was my favorite out of these…definitely going to give it a go at my table…

Well I’m glad you liked the contest and the PDF.

I did roll a d20 on that contest.

I’ll contact you soon Tommi, I just had a full day of meetings and we ended with a Dragonboat team building.. I’m so exhausted!

I was going to contribute, but by the time I looked my best answers had already been added. I think that’s a big part of why the commenting was less– the responses were broader, crowding out similar comments.

My next contest should garner a metric ton of entries if played right!
