Case report #20071110-JKS-A
Location: Chicago Regional HQ
On November 9, 2007, we were assigned to an investigation case pertaining to the death and dismemberment of a John Doe, discovered by local Law Enforcement forces in one of Chicago’s industrial centers (See appendix A for full address and Sit-maps). Apparently, the corpse was said to have been half-eaten. According to Chief Graves, this was the 4th signaling of similar attacks, hence IDA’s involvement. Assigned to this case were agents William Gunther, Duncan Clarke and Brook Dindler as well as myself.
Hey there, Kevin here. Just se we’re all on the same page, Gunther is an Awakened, Clarke is an ear-scratching Furry and Dindler is a sunlight-fearing Sucky-Sucky.
We rapidly proceeded to the indicated coordinates with our assigned departmental vehicle (See Appendix B for Vehicle Pool Assignment and Utilization Registry form: Subsection Van and Mini-trucks) with no case-related incidents (there was a fire at a certain point along the Highway but Fire-fighters were already converging).
Upon arrival, we met with Inspector Richard Clark (See Appendix C for Badge Number and comments on his handling of the scene)…
That guy was a complete and utter moron! Like all turf-loving policemen, he only grudgingly acknowledged our presence but on top of it all, he and his men handled the crime scene with the incompetence and carelessness only usually associated with low-price Rent-a-cops.
…who gave us the following facts.
- John Doe, (Hispanic, confirmed later by surviving witness) was found completely dismembered in a nearby rundown warehouse.
- Apparently the work of some large animal.
We took over the investigation. I took possession of the body bags of the victim and investigated the remains. Agents Gunther and Dindler discussed the case with Inspector Clark while agent Clarke entered the premises.
Damn stupid Werewolf, he entered the building without telling his teammates and without backup. When he spotted something, he went out to CHECK! He got what he deserved!
During the inspecting of the body, I found a small engraved metal plate (commonly called Dog tags) with the following:
- Hillburger Tech X433
While I was inspecting the body, agents Dindler and Gunther finished with the inspector (no new elements added to facts) and inspected around the building. They found a broken window with some blood on it. After informing me so I could take samples, they both entered the building.
Shortly thereafter I collected the samples, I heard a gunshot inside the building and agent Clarke cried out in pain (Good for him… overconfident Dweb!). I rushed inside and took out my sidearm. As shown during training, my recollection of violent events is usually sketchy at best (Please refer to Psychological Profile AKJ-02342 for rationale and acceptance by the IDA directorship) but a witness to the murder was apprehended with minimal trauma.
Ah, good old James, still clueless after all this time. Here’s what really happened: The Warehouse had this bunch of stacked barrels that created an isolated nook just large enough to hide a man at the end of its open space. Duncan heard someone and sauntered toward the ‘entrance’ of the nook. There he surprised a hidden man who, after screaming to be left alone, shot Clarke with a 9mm Saturday Night Special.
Clarke promptly morphed is hands into claws and started fighting one on one against him. I screamed for him to get out of there, for the perp to drop his gun and for that blood sucking Dindler to drop the barrels on the perp, which he did. When the perp was buried under a few barrels, Mr Wolfman jumped on the barrels and thoroughly trashed the poor bastard. I must admit it was fun to watch.
The witness confirmed that he was near the warehouse during the attack. Some kind of large animal jumped his colleague, John Doe (referred to as Rico) and they both fled for the warehouse. Both Perp were involved in petty robbery at the time of the attack (See Appendix D: Arrest and Transfer to Local Authority authorization form). Witness was unable to identify animal.
Upon return to Headquarters, the blood samples were analyzed and revealed that it was not human in origin. It had some distinct Reptilian/Avian characteristics. Furthermore it was found that Hillburger Tech was a Chicago based Biotechnology firm with strong ties with the US Defense Department.
Yes, honest to god Dino-freaking-saurs! There we are, the great IDA, supposedly to save humanity against the Intrusion and we find clues about Godzilla? Sheesh! Read on, it gets better…
On the next evening (November 10th, 2007), we investigated the premises of Hillburger Tech and were met by a Doctor Fullburg. When informed of the name ‘X-433’ he became agitated and brought us into the laboratories.
He informed us that this facility had been trying to create genetically engineered animals for the military. While most of the experiments had so far been dismal failures, several breakthroughs were seen since last year. When asked for more details, we confirmed that the breakthrough occurred shortly after the Intrusion and that he was the one behind them.
Upon arriving to the laboratories we saw some sort of large reptilian creature suspended in liquid in what looked like cylindrical glass tanks. Three other such tanks stood empty.
Dr. Fullburg then informed us that 3 specimen were missing. When we pressed for more details, he fled the room, activating some sort of emergency closing mechanism. Agent Gunther acted swiftly, pulling agent Dindler and himself outside of the laboratory before the door closed.
Agent Clarke and myself were trapped in the laboratory and the reptilian specimen started to move. A shot was fired that shattered the glass tank containing the creature and shortly thereafter the creature was found dead. Once again details are unavailable but 6 shots were fired from my handgun. (See Appendix E: Firearm discharge form and situation report)
It was a dinosaur all right, some sort of raptor or whatever Jurassic Park crap that mad scientist Fullburg was growing. I sent James packing and I took the situation in hand with Clarke. I shot the scaly thing while it was still groggy but missed and shattered the tank instead. It flopped on the floor and started waking up.
Clark went Wolfman on it and started shredding it to pieces. I added a few shots for good measure and made sure it was really dead when Clarke was done ripping it to pieces. I might have to re-evaluate the effectiveness of allied werewolves in the very near future…
During the confrontation with what appears to be a Deinonychus (See appendix F for Wikipedia entry) Agents Gunther and Dindler successfully apprehended Dr. Fullburg, who unfortunately suffered some major trauma due to gunshot and bite wounds. His wounds were stabilized and he was sent to an hospital under IDA security.
Three tracking devices, apparently keyed to the 3 missing specimen were recovered and brought back to HQ.
Following the signal brought our team to some rain drainage sewers where we were ambushed by 3 other similar specimens. We were apparently able to kill all three with only moderate wounds on the part of the two Supernatural agents. 11 Shots were fired from my handgun (See part 2 of Appendix E).
Picture this. We were knee deep in running rain water, we barely escaped a freaking pit under the water just to be bushwhacked by 2 Raptor bastards at a nearby 4 way intersection. Both Dindler and Clarke were tenderized in mere seconds and had to retreat, Gunter and I made a defensive retreat to allow only one to advance on us. We were able to kill one before another one jumped our recuperating monstrous partners behind us. We prevailed, thank goodness for supernatural healing…
We returned to HQ where we were debriefed by Chief Graves.
Case report completed on November 10th.

Heh, i have actualy run this campaign. It was the second one i ever ran on D20 Modern.
I had to be dragged out of the pit in the sewer after failing my swim check, damn near drowned. Then we were ambushed. Only survived that fight by injecting acid into the dinos.

Yeah, it’s the d20 modern intro adventure… fluffed up for McWod… It allowed Franky to get into the new ruleset and it fit in one evening…

Just wanted to point out that agent Smith failed in his report to indicate that without the fast thinking of agent Dindler, who subtly grabbed one of the tracking devices, without anyone noticed, it would had been impossible to located the remaining dinos hiding in the sewers ๐
But thanks for the great and very entertaining report ๐
ChattyDM says
Yeah, I might have let that one slip my mind… you are quite the cratfy one aren’t you?
